For this post I am going to talk about the Black Box Cable Inspector and Cable Tester.  The Black Box Cable Inspector offers various types of cable testing services. It can displaying wire map, numbered ID remotes, and can identify any faults, including shorts, opens, miswires, split pairs, and reverses. Another feature is measuring of cable length.

The way  Black Box Cable Inspector can measure cable length is by using time-domain reflectometer technology,  tone generator.  Time-domain reflectometer is an electronic instrument used to determine the characteristics of electrical lines by observing reflected waveforms. It can be used to characterize and locate faults in the cables it is testing (for example, twisted pair wire or coaxial cable).

For reviewing your testing results the Black Box Cable Inspector had a full-color graphical display, that will provides for easy viewing in any environment. The cable inspector also has the ability to label each cable and save all of its test results data in a professional report.  These Cable reports can also be exported to a computer via micro USB cable for record keeping and printing, link below with more information about this tester.
